What We’re Currently Learning |

This year, we are doing a “Through the Alphabet in a Year” theme. Each week, we spotlight one letter of the alphabet. Gabrielle works on her ability to print that letter. Matthew begins learning to write that letter in cursive. And we will talk about things in each subject that begin with that letter. For instance, when we’re studying the letter “A,” we can study “animals” in science, “America” in social studies, and “Adam and Eve” in Bible. Math and English lessons will be integrated around the various “A” topics. The kids will have a lot of flexibility in deciding the topics we study, as long all standards are met within the year. We are currently at the letter O. We have had a few weeks where we have strayed from studying a specific letter to focus on meeting standards, to review, and so forth. |
